My visit to Nashville was an
interesting one. My dad took me backstage at the Grand
Ole Opry. I got to meet Jan Howard and see all the famous
dressing rooms. He introduced me to some of his best
friends, including Harlan Howard, who was willing to
offer me a job singing demos for him. My goal was to
complete college before I did anything else so my trip
was a short one. My grandmother and I didn't get along
very well anyway. I got the feeling she wanted me to go
home. Another interesting thing I remember about this
trip was that my dad's apartment was right next door to
Twitty City. They had regular performances by major
artists under a huge tent. I remember hanging out
backstage and meeting Lee Greenwood and his family.
