Then while I was still in college,
I got a phone call from my dad and his manager, Charlie
Ammerman. They were in town and wanted to talk to me. My
dad has heard from the grapevine that I had turned into
quite a singer. Charlie was putting my dad back on the
road. He had a new band and a new album to promote. They
wanted me to go with them and open for him. I was very
determined at that time to finish my degree in college so
I decided not to go with them. Charlie was very angry at
me, saying I was missing out on an opportunity of a
lifetime. Well, I didn't see it that way. I figured that
if he was a worthwhile manager, that he would still be
around in a couple of years, after I had graduated. Come
to find out, another star-to-be took my place and went on
a few dates of that tour. She was Lorrie Morgan.
